The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is just a few days away. The retention window has been closed with the teams having released and retained the players they needed in their team. All the 10 teams would love to strategise their plans well to have the players they need to boost their squad. There have been some interesting trades during the trading window and the trading window is still open as it will shut down on December 12.

The best transfer was of Hardik Pandya who was retained by the Gujarat Titans (GT) initially in the window, but he was eventually traded to his first franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) the star all-rounder has been traded in an all-cash deal of 15 crores INR and the five-times champions let go the big Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) of worth 17.5 crores INR.

Veteran off-spinner has opened up about the trade deal of Pandya and shared his views on it. He believes if the all-rounder is handed over the captaincy for the upcoming season their regular skipper Rohit Sharma will not create any issues as the team India skipper does not have ego issues. Pandya led GT to their first title in the maiden inclusion in the IPL in 2022 and they lost a thrilling final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last edition. The 30-year-old all-rounder started his IPL career with the Mumbai franchise and won the trophy four times with them in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

Rohit Sharma does not have much ego: Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin on his YouTube channel in a discussion with former CSK batter S Badrinath said, "Rohit Sharma does not have much ego. He is a great human being and a sound leader. He will handle it with grace (if Pandya is made MI leader). In the history of IPL, apart from the top four to five teams, all have released players. Mumbai and CSK have never done it. I know Hardik to an extent. I see this move as a milestone achievement."

The auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai and this is the first instance that the auction will be held outside the country.
