IPL 2023's batting superstars, Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad were unduly left out of the Indian team for their tour of the West Indies

For the three-match T20I series against Ireland scheduled for August 18, 20, and 23, Rinku Singh will travel to Ireland. Singh, who had a great IPL season for Kolkata Knight Riders, was not chosen for the next West Indies tour, which infuriated Indian cricket fans. The selection committee did not want to play a youthful team against the West Indies, though.

They preferred to test each person individually. They also want the players to be rested before a lengthy season. An Indian Cricket Board source spoke to the Indian Express and said, “Rinku and other players who did well in the IPL will fly to Ireland as the selection committee doesn’t want to try everyone at one stage. There are seven players of the Indian ODI team who are not going to play T20 as those players are key for us going ahead as they will be playing Asia Cup in late August.”

Potential to be part of Ireland series and Asian games

For the Ireland series, players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Singh will be flown. The selection committee opted to test athletes phase by phase having the Asian Games lineup in mind.

In order to give peripheral players a chance to prove themselves before being given an opportunity in the senior Indian team, the Indian Cricket Board selection committee has requested that the board schedule additional India A tours. The Indian Cricket Board is negotiating A tours with a few bodies.

Ajit Agarkar, the new chief selector who started on Tuesday, presided over the meeting for the first time. Agarakar, who was a member of the team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, gives a new viewpoint on T20 cricket. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as Tilak Varma were chosen by the selection committee for the T20I team. Jaiswal had recently dazzled everyone with his performances in the IPL and Ranji Trophy, but he showed during the 2023 IPL how his talent has advanced to a new level as he destroyed numerous well-known bowlers.
