The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be clashing against the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28. CSK may have defeated GT in the first qualifier, but it was home comfort for them, however, this time, GT will have a home advantage.
Meanwhile, there is some rain expected in Ahmedabad as per some weather reports. There will also be some thunderstorms in the evening as the weather will remain cloudy. The Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indian (MI) and GT also saw some thunderstorms before the start of the match, due to which, the contest started half an hour late.
Although the afternoon is largely clear, as the day goes on, the likelihood of rain at the location increases. Later in the day, there is roughly an 80% probability of rain, according to Accuweather. On the eve of the championship game, the Narendra Modi Stadium may experience roughly 2 hours of rain.
There is a reserved day for the final
However, there is a reserve day set up (on Monday) when the contest will take place if at least 5 overs per side could not be completed during the match. But there are several other factors that should also be taken into consideration.
The match will resume where it left off on Saturday if at least one ball is bowled on Sunday. A new 20-over-per-side match will begin on Monday if the toss is conducted on Sunday but no play occurs. On the reserve day, the toss would again be repeated. On the reserve day, the captains would also be permitted to switch teams.
Talking about the contest, both teams’ batters are in red-hot form as CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed a half-century against GT in the 1st qualifier, while GT star opener Shubman Gill is the leading run-scorer this season and has also smashed 3 centuries. It will be interesting to see which team’s opener will play a big knock in the final.
