India pacer Jasprit Bumrah made a spectacular comeback in the ongoing first T20I against Ireland. After 11 months, he has made his comeback in international cricket. Bumrah has played only one game since having back problems last July. With him being rushed back last September, only for him to be ruled out again, the team management and the board were careful this time around.

Meanwhile, it seems that patience and perseverance have paid off finally. In the ongoing game, the India stand-in skipper Bumrah started the proceedings with the ball after he won the toss and elected to bowl first. Things started with a boundary by Andrew Balbarnie. However, the very next ball, Bumrah removed the former Ireland skipper. In the same over, Lorcan Tucker attempted a lap short but only managed to play it to Sanju Samson.

Talking about his overall bowling, he gave away only 24 runs in four overs, taking two wickets. The home team, Ireland has been reduced to 139/7 with Barry McCarthy scoring unbeaten 51 runs.

I respect people's opinions but don't take them seriously: Jasprit Bumrah

Ahead of the game, Bumrah spoke to the media. In the last 12 months, he has been trolled a lot for his fitness standards. However, the Mumbai Indians players said that he respect the opinions but doesn't take them seriously

“I respect people’s opinion, but good or bad, I don’t take them seriously. I don’t want to put the baggage of expectation on myself. Neither do I have unrealistic expectations from myself regarding the load I have to carry. I have never been away from cricket so long. I want to enjoy the game.”

“Other people’s expectations are their problem. My is job to enjoy the game, prepare best and put my best foot forward. I am doing that and, hopefully, everything will take care of itself,” he added.
