Former Indian left-handed batter Suresh Raina, who is also known as ‘Mr. IPL’, has done wonders for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which is one of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, surprisingly, the franchise didn’t bid on the batter in the 2022 mega auction which left many fans heartbroken.

Meanwhile, Raina recently revealed how he convinced the former legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni to play Robin Uthappa in place of him. Raina said that he told Dhoni that Uthappa has worked so hard throughout the season in 2021 and he deserved to be in the squad as he didn’t get any opportunity in the season.

"MS Dhoni took permission from me to play Uthappa instead of me, I told him to play Uthappa as he worked so hard through the season even when he wasn't getting an opportunity in 2021". Raina said on Jio Cinema.

Meanwhile, it looked the CSK franchise have once again ignored Raina as he wasn’t picked by Texas Super Kings (TSK) in the upcoming Major League (MLC). Raina enrolled his name for the auction but TSK didn’t show any interest while they went ahead with Ambati Rayudu, Devon Conway, Dwayne Bravo, and Mitchell Santner. 

All four players were a part of the team led by Dhoni that recently won the IPL's fifth championship in 2023. Bravo was the bowling instructor for the Yellow Army. He will be a player who Texas can use. Stephen Fleming has been named as the head coach of TSK in addition to CSK and the Johannesburg Super Kings. 

With Eric Simmons as the team's assistant coach, Albie Morkel, a former CSK player, will be on the coaching staff. In TSK, there are still a few open positions, therefore it is still unclear whether Raina will join the team.
