The life completed a circle for Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne on Thursday. After coming in to bat as a concussion substitute for Steve Smith in 2018, Labuschagne not only cemented his place in Australian Test cricket but also became the number-one batter in Test cricket. Now, after being dropped from the ODI World Cup squad, a concussion once again turned things around for him.
In the first ODI game against South Africa, the Australian batter was not part of the initial playing XI. However, a concussion injury to all-rounder Cameron Green kept him on the pitch. Making everything out of the opportunity, Labuschange not only scored a half-century but also won the game for Australia. It was a special victory because the Aussies were 72/5 when he came to bat while chasing 223 runs.
Labuschagne, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 80 runs off 93 balls with the help of eight fours. Meanwhile, he added 112 runs with spinner Ashton Agar to win the game by three wickets. In his innings, Agar scored an unbeaten 48 runs off 69 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. Earlier, the pace trio of Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, and Marco Jansen dismantled the Australian batting line-up with an amazing bowling performance.
Can Marnus Labuschagne make it into the ODI World Cup squad?
It's worth noting that Australia is currently struggling with injuries, and Cameron Green's unavailability also adds to their trouble. Meanwhile, with an amazing batting performance, Labuschagne made his bid for the squad. It will be interesting to see if Labuschagne can make it to the final squad or not. However, speaking after the game, Labuschange said that he was not thinking about it.
"It's a strange thing; my mom was adamant last night I'd play, but I told her I'm not on the team. I've had some weird things happen with concussions. (On the ODI World Cup snub) I've been disappointed with how I played one day cricket; I felt like I really needed to improve and didn't have the pressure last night going to bed. It's nice that it all came together. On Agar, I was so impressed with him; he stayed calm and waited for the balls in the right areas to open the game after they bowled so well. (On whether he can still make the WC squad, that's not my job; whatever happens, is out of my control, but I'm very happy to get over the line today", he said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Australia won when they needed 110 runs and had just 3 wickets in hand, India even can't imagine to win in such situations with our current lower order batsmen
