Star Australia batter Steve Smith is set to lead the Australian side against India in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, Smith has opened up about his form and dismissal in the previous game.
While speaking with reporters ahead of Third Test Smith said that the responsibility of Leadership will help him to bounce back. He recalled his dismissal from the Delhi test which left him "bedazzled and angry."
"I've played, what, 95 Test matches (94) and I don't think there have been too many times I've walked off the field and I've gone, ‘what the hell am I doing?’" Smith told reporters ahead of the Indore Test. He further added, "I was pretty angry. There haven't been too many times in my career where I've actually come off and just been bedazzled by what I've done. It wasn't my finest moment."
"It brings the best out of me", says Steve Smith
Smith further spoke about his performance in the ongoing series and how will he lead Australia in upcoming games. Smith said, "It normally brings the best out of me. I'm excited about leading this week in Pat's absence. I know these conditions well. It's kind of like my second home playing over here, I've played a lot in India, and I understand the intricacies of the game and what the wickets are likely to do. I'm looking forward to it."
Notably, Australia is 2-0 down in the BGT 2023 and will be looking to make a strong comeback to level the series. However, India will hope to clean sweep the Aussies and finish the home season on a higher note. Rohit Sharma and co will also eye to book their spot in the finals of the Test Championship.
