Indian batters have struggled a lot so far in the ongoing Border Gavaskar series against Australia, but head coach Rahul Dravid recalled Rohit Sharma's innings in which he smashed a century. Cheteshwar Pujara also scored 59 runs in the second innings of the Indore Test. Rohit had earlier shown a masterclass of 120 off 212 balls in Nagpur. The coach feels that the pitches have not been so easy in this series.
Dravid does not want to go by the numbers as the circumstances are so complex that the numbers will not give a true picture. However, India might make some changes in their playing XI as KS Bharat has shown a very poor batting record so far and Ishan Kishan is likely to replace him but Dravid says you need a bit of luck on these pitches which might be the case for KS.
"We are not (concerned) and it again comes to a question of perspective and understanding of some of the challenges and conditions that he has kept in and even though it's not a big contribution but he got 17 in the first innings," Dravid told reporters in the press conference ahead of the fourth Test.
KS Bharat failed in the first three Tests
According to the coach, it is not that KS Bharat is a complete failure as he contributed 17 runs in the second innings. In the Delhi Test match too, he contributed well in the second innings and hit some good shots. He also did well in the keeping department behind the wickets.
Bharat has contributed 57 runs in five innings with an average of 14.25 in the series so far and all-rounders R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have scored more runs than him. So it is going to be difficult for Bharat to get another opportunity in the fourth Test which is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 9. Indian will be eyeing a victory as it will confirm their spot in the Test Championship final.
