In only the sixth game of the ongoing inaugural Major League Cricket 2023, LA Knight Riders have made a record that they wouldn't like to remember. Talking about the game, MI New York won the toss and elected to bat first on a used surface in Grand Pierre, Texas. After starting his innings with 15 off seven balls, Dewald Brewis was trapped lbw by Corne Dry.

The likes of Shayan Jahangir (4), US international, Monak Patel (4), and former Pakistan player, Hammad Azam (8) failed to make an impact. Skipper Kieron Pollard (5) also failed to even cross the double-digit mark. At 77/5, the team needed a strong partnership. However, West Indies international, Nicholas Pooran (38), who was playing run-a ball couldn't go further. Things got worse as they lost eight wickets for 120 runs.

However, Tim David, who also plays for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and MI Cape Town in SA20, scored an unbeaten 48 off 21 balls. This helped the team reach 155/8 in the first innings. For the Knight Riders, US international, Ali Khan, Corne Dry, and Aussie leggie Adam Zampa took two wickets each. On the other hand, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson took one wicket.

In reply, the Purple Brigade had a similar but worse start than their first game against Texas Super Kings. In that game, they lost four wickets for 20 runs. Things became worse as they lost five wickets for 50-odd inside the powerplay against the Super Kings.

In this game, they lost three wickets for two runs, pretty much similar to what India faced against New Zealand in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal. Notably, only former India U19 captain, Unmukt Chand (26) was the highest scorer. He was also the only player to cross the double-digit mark. Four batters bagged ducks while the other six failed to cross the double-digit mark. In the end, they were bowled out for 50 runs, losing the game by 105 runs.
