Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clashed against each other in the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on  Monday, May 1. RCB defeated LSG by 19 runs and avenged their loss in a cracking style.

Meanwhile, after the match, Virat Kohli was involved in a heated argument with some players of LSG. First, the fans witnessed a dispute between Naveen ul Haq and Kohli then Kohli moved towards Kyle Mayers, however, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir intervened and took Mayers away but after a few minutes he was also seen having a hard talk with Kohli.

Talking about the match, RCB won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis put on a 62-run stand for the first wicket but there was no intent at all as they were playing at a very slow pace. When Kohli attempted to up the ante, he fell and the likes of Anuj Rawat, Glenn Maxwell, and Suyash Prabhudessai just did not get to grips with the pitch. Du Plessis at the other end showed zero intent too as he was trying to get a fighting total.

Brilliant bowling performance by RCB

However, during the 1st innings, LSG skipper KL Rahul got injured early on while fielding and Krunal Pandya took charge in his absence. The rain came and stopped proceedings for 25 minutes, once it restarted Du Plessis got out and the end overs acceleration never came. For LSG, they just bowled to the conditions and the pitch. Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers with a three-fer and helped the team to restrict RCB on the score of 126 runs.

Chasing the target, LSG had a horrible start as none of the top-order batters except Marcus Stoinis were able to handle RCB bowlers and they started losing wickets at a regular interval of time. But the slow-scoring approach just didn't work on this pitch. Whenever a batter tried to take the aggressive route, in either inning, a wicket was around the corner. Maybe LSG needed a Rahul to get the team over the line. But unfortunately, he was injured and only walked out when the game was gone and they lost the match.
