Many young players have shown incredible performance in this league and have found success in the game, with the experienced guns showing their abilities in the league as well. 

The fight between the top-notch defenders and the splendid raiders has always been fun to watch for the fans over the years. With the likes of Surender Nada, Manjeet Chillar, and Fazel Atrachal the game has seen some great players fight against these defenders. This season also has seen the rise of some defenders Sahil Gulia, Shubham Shinde and Saurabh Nandal. They are the light of the 10th edition of the PKL

5. Sandeep Narwal

Sandeep Narwal is known for his all-round skill, he has shown to be a formidable opponent on defence. Sandeep has proven himself to be one of the best defenders in PKL history, thanks to his natural ability to surprise opponents with his quick, strong tackles. He stands out as one of the finest players as the player was the key member for Dabbang Delhi K.C. to win the PKL in the 8th season. Sandeep has played 156 matches has scored 360 tackle points, and ranks 5th in the list of the players with most tackle points in PKL history. 

4. Girish Maruti Ernak

Girish Maruti Ernak plays as a left-cover defender and he is well-known for his strong build and agility, he specialises in using thigh holds, ankle holds, and strong tackles that cause problems in the rhythm of opposition raiders. Ernak can lead the defence and make crucial contributions in high-pressure situations for the side as well. The left cover has played in 146 games and has scored 360 tackle points, and ranks 4th in the list of the players with the most tackle points in PKL history. 

3. Surjeet Singh 

Surjeet Singh is arguably the league’s best right-cover defender. The defender was the captain of Tamil Thalaivas in season 8 of the PKL and has also achieved a total of 22 Super Tackles, and 29 High-5 in his career. He has been part of Bengal Warriors and Puneri Paltan in the past. He has been entrusted with captaincy responsibilities for teams like Bengal Warriors.  He is playing for the Bengaluru Bulls in the ongoing 2023 edition of the tournament. In six matches, Singh has scored 13 points and has a tackle strike rate of 41%. The right cover ranks 3rd on the list of the players with the most tackle points in PKL history.  

2. Manjeet Chhillar

Manjeet Chillar is probably the best all-rounder in PKL history. The defender has also achieved a total of 17 Super Tackles, and 05 High-5s in his career. He has a tackle success rate of 50% in PKL and has a remarkable ability to read the game and execute precise tackles. In 132 matches in his career he has scored 391 tackle points, He has played for Bengaluru Bulls, Dabang Delhi, Tamil Thailavas, Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan in PKL over the years. He ranks 2nd in the list of the players with the most tackle points in PKL history.  

1. Fazel Atrachali 

Fazel Atrachali, the most expensive foreign player in PKL history, ranks first in terms of taking the most tackle points in the league so far. He is also the only foreigner in the list of top 5 defenders. The Iranian defender had the highest tackle points in Season 4 and Season 7. Fazel has also achieved a total of 23 Super Tackles, and 23 High-5s in his career. He currently plays for Gujarat Giants and is the captain of the side as well. The defender has won two times the best defender award as well. In 155 games he has scored 449 tackle points.
