Australia won the three-match ODI series 2-1 against India by beating the Men in Blue in the decider match on Wednesday, March 22 at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In this series, Steve Smith appeared as captain in the absence of Pat Cummins and the Kangaroos clinched a resounding victory under Smith's captaincy.

Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter and praised Smith's captaincy. He tweeted and wrote, "Steve Smith and captaincy are a match made in heaven." Ashwin tweeted this after the third ODI. In the third match, the Indian team lost the match chasing 270 runs.

Australian leg-spinner spinner Adam Zampa took four wickets in this match. He made Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja his victims. Zampa took 4 wickets and conceded only 45 runs in 10 overs. He was also awarded the 'Player of the Match' for his spectacular spin bowling performance.

Brilliant batting performance by Mitchell Marsh in the ODI series

Australian batter Mitchell Marsh appeared in excellent form in this series. He scored 194 runs in 3 matches at an average of 97. He scored 2 half-centuries as well. In the first match, he played an inning of 81 runs in 65 balls with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes.

In the second match, once again Marsh played a brilliant inning for the team as he displayed a blistering batting show by smashing 66 runs in just 36 balls with the help of 6 fours and 6 sixes. He was also awarded the title of 'Player of the Match' in the 2nd match. At the same time, in the last match of the series, Marsh scored 47 runs in 47 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six. He was awarded the title of 'Player of the Series' for his brilliant performance in the series.

Smith had a quiet tour with the bat as he couldn’t score big in both the Test and ODI series but he led the Aussies really well. It’d be interesting to see whether the Australian team continue with Pat Cummins as the skipper or if they will make some changes for the upcoming 50-over World Cup.
