The star India batter, Prithvi Shaw engraved his place in English cricket history on August 9 by scoring an undefeated double century against Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2023. The 23-year-old cricket player now belongs to a select group of cricketers who have reached this stage of the competition. He surpassed Ollie Robinson's record from the previous year when he scored a stunning 206 with his excellent effort.

The young India batter entertained everyone with a stunning inning against Northamptonshire's third group-stage encounter of the season after receiving criticism for his recent performance. Shaw showed off his true batting power, slamming an astonishing 244 off just 153 balls with 28 fours and 11 big sixes, after scoring just 60 runs in the previous two games combined.

Prithvi Shaw's became the first Indian to achieve this feat

By becoming the first Indian cricketer to record a double century throughout the competition, Shaw inscribed his name in history. In addition, his amazing achievement surpassed the old record held by Ollie Robinson and Ali Orr. By amassing 206 runs apiece in the 2022 edition, Robinson and Orr established the standard and won the competition's first-ever double centuries.

Shaw's performance in the competition has been mixed. The cricketer encountered an odd dismissal when, in the opening game against Gloucestershire, he was taken out on a struck wicket for 34. The Indian opener could only muster 26 runs against Sussex after that. Shaw, though, set a new record for the quickest double-hundred in List A cricket in England by reaching the century mark in just 129 deliveries.

The star India opener has played in 56 List A games thus far, making his cricket career impressive. He has nearly 2700 runs under his belt with an astounding average of 51, eight hundred, and 11 50s. Shaw will want to keep up his excellent play in the upcoming games, which could ultimately give him a chance to return to the Indian team.
