In the 34th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This is Delhi's second consecutive victory of the season as they beat KKR in their last game. This is special for Delhi Capitals as they got this victory with some amazing team efforts.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner opted to bat first on the dry surface. Batting first, DC got a shaky start as opener Phil Salt was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the very first over of the game. He was dismissed for a golden duck as he edged an outswinger to end up in the gloves of Heinrich Klaasen.

However, after his departure DC's top order failed to capitalise on the opportunity and was restricted to 62-5. After that, allrounder Axar Patel, along with Manish Pandey, added 69 runs for the sixth wicket. Their partnership helped DC to post a competitive total of 144-9 in 20 overs. Axar and Manish both scored 34 runs each before getting dismissed. Bhuvneshwar and Washington Sundar proved to go to Bowler for SRH as they clinched two and three wickets, respectively.

SRH's top order crumbled against Delhi's bowling attack

Chasing 145, SRH got a good start as opener Mayank Agarwal hammered Capitals allrounder out of the park. However, his partner Harry Brook's shaky innings were ended by Anrich Nortje as he was dismissed for 7 off 14 balls. After his departure, Agarwal, along with Rahul Tripathi, added 38 runs for the second wicket. However, their partnership was broken by Axar Patel as he dismissed Agarwal for 49 runs off 39 balls.

After his departure, SRH never looked comfortable against Delhi Capitals. In the end, Washington Sundar tried to rescue his team as he scored 24 runs off 15 balls, but eventually failed to score 13 runs in the last over. Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel proved to be the go-to bowlers for DC as they clinched two wickets each. This is Delhi's second victory in seven matches while SRH lost their fifth game in seven matches.
