After being defeated by Chennai Super Kings in their second match, Lucknow Supergiants are back on the winning track as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets on Friday, April 7 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Talking about the match, SRH won the toss and opted to bat first. And as expected, the spinners ruled the roost, with Krunal Pandya being the pick of the bowlers with 3/18. He got Mayank Agarwal early and later dismissed Anmolpreet Singh and SRH skipper Aiden Markram in the same over. SRH struggled to get going on this sluggish surface, as Rahul Tripathi and Washington Sundar went more defensive.

Abdul Samad came out and smashed two sixes in the final over and helped the team to achieve a fighting total of 121 runs after losing 8 wickets. LSG bowlers did an exceptional job, especially Pandya, who dismissed the first three batters of SRH. The evergreen Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra made his return to IPL and picked up two wickets. Ravi Bishnoi also picked up a wicket and conceded only 16 runs in his 4 overs.

A brilliant all-round performance by LSG

Chasing the target, it was expected that SRH bowlers will display a great bowling performance but that didn't happen as they gave too many extras and they were bad in the fielding department as well. LSG skipper, KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya stitched a 55-run stand after losing 2 wickets on the score of 45 runs.

Adil Rashid took back-to-back two wickets at the end, but it was too late, and SRH suffered their second loss of the season. They are the only team, along with Delhi Capitals, to have lost two consecutive in the tournament so far.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, April 8, Rajasthan Royals will clash against DC. There will be additional pressure on the Capitals, who have lost both their matches so far while the Royals will be keen to bounce back after a narrow loss to Punjab Kings at the same venue.
