After a long and eager wait for the fixtures of the ODI World Cup, the Apex Cricket Council finally ended all the speculation and released the fixtures on Tuesday. Amid the release of dates of India vs Pakistan clash and citing this hotel prices in Ahmedabad saw a sudden spike. It is a surprise because the tournament is still three and a half months away.
According to prices on several hotel booking services, there may have been an unusually high demand for rooms on October 15, when the arch-rivals would be playing at the Narendra Modi stadium in this city. The cost of renting a room has increased by almost ten times, with some hotels charging close to one lakh rupees while most are already booked for that day.
The tournament will commence in around 100 days, and hotels have already begun to receive reservations in advance. The prices, meanwhile, are increasing quickly. According to industry sources who spoke to TOI, a base category room at a five-star hotel in the city might often cost Rs 50,000 per night.
Normally, these rooms would cost between Rs 6,500 and Rs 10,500. The major competition is slated to start on October 5 and last for 46 days. On November 19, the major finale is scheduled to take place. In the meantime, the first match between England and New Zealand, the championship game, and the eagerly anticipated India vs. Pakistan will all take place in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

What, did an alien invasion happen in Ahmedabad on the 15th October? Or are the hotels just trying to buy a new spaceship with those insane room rates? ๐ฝ๐

โThere is also great traction for the match between India and Pakistan, likely on October 15. Bookings have already been made for the October 13-16 period and hotel rooms in the city are expected to be sold out on most match days,โ Kenaan McKenzie who is the General Manager of ITC Narmada told while speaking to Times of India.
Notably, some of the five-star hotels which are operational in the city which includes ITC Narmada, Courtyard by Marriott, and also Taj are already fully booked for October 15 due to its overwhelming demand.
