India and Rajasthan Royal's leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has become the all-time highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL. In the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders, he needed to take one wicket to get past Dwayne Bravo. The latter started his career with Mumbai Indians in 2008. Three years later, the former West Indies skipper shifted to Chennai Super Kings.

Ahead of the upcoming season, Bravo retired from the tournament and is now the bowling coach of CSK. In his career spanning 14 years, the two-time 20-20 World Cup winner played 161 games. During this, he took 183 wickets and was the all-time highest wicket-taker at an average of 23.82, an economy rate of 8.38 including two four-wicket hauls. Now, this record has been broken by Chahal.

The India player came to bowl in the 11th over for the first time in the game. On the second ball of the over, KKR skipper Nitish Rana decided to play the slog sweep. However, the left-hander was caught at deep backward square leg by Shimron Hetmyer. With this, Chahal reached 184 wickets in only 143 games.

Yuzvendra Chahal's IPL career is shorter than Dwayne Bravo

Comparing both players' careers, Bravo played all seasons of the cash-rich league since the inaugural season. Not to forget, he played more games than the 2011 Champions League winner. However, the Trinidadian has a higher economy rate and bowling average. In comparison to Bravo's 23.82 average and economy of 8.38, Chahal's average is 21.59 and an economy rate of 7.66.

Also, compared to Bravo's two four-wicket hauls, Chahal has five and counting. Also, the latter has a five-wicket haul too. Last year, he won his maiden purple cap while Bravo did it in 2013 and 2015. Coincidentally, they failed to help the team win the title on these occasions.

Talking about this year, Chahal has become the Purple Cap holder after picking two more wickets in the ongoing game. He has another left and might bowl it given the conditions in Kolkata.
