Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw is having a horrible season with the bat in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the first two matches, Shaw managed to score only 19 runs and this was one of the reason behind DC's consecutive losses in the league.

Shaw again had a bad outing as he was dismissed without even scoring even a single run against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, April 8. Shaw wasn't included in DC's playing XI and was later introduced as an impact player in the second innings but failed to put any impact in the monumental chase of 199 runs as he was dismissed by Trent Boult in the very first over. Sanju Samson took a wonderful catch behind the wickets.

Interestingly, before the start of the tournament, DC's head coach Ricky Ponting heaped praise on Shaw and said that he will be different in the upcoming season as he is hungry more than ever. He even said that Shaw hadn't produced his best performance yet and this season he will put his 100% and we will see the real Shaw.

"He just has that different look in his eye this year - you can see that he's probably hungrier than ever. Yes, he's had some success for us, but I think with the level of talent and ability that he's got, I think we're going to see the real Prithvi Shaw this season." Ponting was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Unfortunately, we do not have the all-round depth: James Hopes

DC also received a setback as their star allrounder Mitchell Marsh left the tournament midway because of his wedding. Ahead of the match against RR, DC's bowling coach James Hopes said that they will try some new combinations as many players aren't available for them.

"All the teams have been a little bit different on how they are doing it. Unfortunately, we do not have the all-around depth to have seven-eight bowling options in our team. So we can either use the Impact Player to strengthen our batting or our bowling at the moment." Hopes said ahead of the clash.

"If we bring in six genuine bowling options without Mitch Marsh here, it will weaken our batting significantly. Even in bowl-first, bat-first scenarios. So on Saturday, you might see something a bit different from us."
