Mumbai can be seen in a new avatar in the upcoming 16th edition of the Indian T20 League. The team was at the bottom of the points table last season as their performance was very poor. But this time Mumbai can show wonders with some great new additions in the mini-auction 2022. However, the absence of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be a concern for them. Bumrah is out due to an injury.
The five-time champions won only 4 matches while playing a total of 14 matches. The Mumbai team, captained by Rohit Sharma have a good record in the tournament and will look to show why they are the most successful team in the history of the cash-rich league. Here we will take a look at Mumbai's strongest XI for the upcoming season.
Top order
India's captain Rohit Sharma will be opening with young left-hander Ishan Kishan. Rohit's bat hasn't produced any great innings in the tournament in recent years. But he will look to get his form back. The no.1 T20I batter in the world Suryakumar Yadav didn't have great ODI series against Australia but he is having some great stats in the shortest format. It seems Suryakumar might bat at no. 3.
Middle-order
The young left-hander, Tilak Verma, displayed his brilliant batting ability in the previous season as he scored 397 runs in 14 matches he played with an impressive average of 36.09. He also included 2 half-centuries. Australia's sensation Tim David will provide a strong middle-order batting option because of his explosive hitting ability.
Allrounders
As Mumbai's legendary allrounder Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian T20 League, the responsibility will be on Australian star allrounder Cameron Green who will be making his debut this season. Mumbai will also have high hopes for the young Indian uncapped allrounder Ramandeep Singh.
Bowlers
Mumabai's most talked about addition Jofra Archer missed the last season due to injury but is set to make a comeback this season. He will be accompanied by Australian fast bowler Jason Beherendorff. The spinning department will be in the hands of Kumar Kartikeya and Hrithik Shokeen.
