ODI World Cup 2023: Everything you need to know about fixtures, venues, dates

The governing body of cricket released the schedule for the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup on Tuesday, June 27. The 10-team showpiece tournament, which will be held in India, will begin exactly 100 days from that time. This also will be the first time that India will be hosting the grand event entirely

The tournament will consist of 48 games that will be played over the course of 46 days. The league games would reportedly take place in 10 different Indian cities. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, and Thiruvananthapuram are the 12 cities that will play host to the ODI World Cup matches.

The grand event set to kick off on October 5

The 2019 World Cup finalists England and New Zealand will clash against each other in the first match of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5. While the Indian team will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia in Chennai on 8 October. Then, they will travel to Delhi to face Afghanistan on 11 October. After that, fans will witness the much-awaited clash against between the arch-rivals India and  Pakistan on 15 October in Ahmedabad. 

However, it is expected that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will once again come up with a new problem as earlier they requested to change some of their venues. However, the request was refused by the cricket’s governing body as they requested to change the venue because they believed that the condition won’t favour their play style.
