India is currently playing Australia in their first ODI World Cup 2023 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first. India's Jasprit Bumrah gave them a solid start. Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh for a duck. David Warner and Steve Smith stitched a partnership of 69-run before the former was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. Wickets fell as the Australian batters fell like cards in a slow wicket of Chennai.

The Aussies were bowled out for 199 runs. Indian spinners were exceptional with the ball and created a lot of pressure on the Australian batters. Australian batters had no answer to the spin web of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The three spinners picked 6 out of the 10 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets, the first wicket of  Steve Smith was with an unplayable delivery. The veteran all-rounder then claimed the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey. They were reduced to 119/5 at one stage. Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Cameron Green and they were 140/7 at one stage.

In response, Australia got a dream start as Mitchell Starc dismissed Ishan Kishan in the very first over of his spell. The southpaw played with hard hands and eventually gave a simple catch in the first slip to Cameron Green. Josh Hazelwood created fire with the ball as he dismissed skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer on the same over giving India a double blow just in two overs. Rohit's leg-before wicket was unfortunate as it was clipping the top of the leg stump and it was the umpire's call.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are currently at the crease. Both the batters are playing carefully with a lot of overs to play. Two of these batters need to bat for at least 30-35 overs in order to make sure that the run chase is on for India. Kohli is batting at 23 off 48 deliveries and Rahul on the other hand 15 off 29 balls.
