Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma who has been in sensational form in the mega event started the innings well. On Thursday he became the highest run-scorer in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 265 runs.

With Openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das scoring half-centuries respectively. The batters stitched a partnership of 93 runs before the former was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. The pitch was a batting paradise for the Indian bowlers made a comeback and restricted them under 270-300 runs. 

While chasing the Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma who has been in sensational form in the mega event started the innings well. On Thursday he became the highest run-scorer in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 265 runs. The 36-year-old batter has scored one century in this tournament so far against Afghanistan. 

He achieved another milestone during the second innings as he currently has the most runs in the Cricket World Cup chases. He surpassed, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has 743 runs from 19 innings. Rohit has scored 771 runs in 13 innings. The batter has been in great form after the duck he scored against Australia. He also registered 1243 runs to surpass Brain Lara (1225) to become the fourth-highest run scorer in CWC history.

Rohit Sharma breaking records

Team India skipper has been in outstanding touch in the marquee event so far. In the match against Afghanistan, he broke the record for the most number of centuries in the history of the ODI World Cup. Rohit currently has seven centuries in the mega event he surpassed the great Sachin Tendulkar who previously had six centuries in 44 innings. The veteran batter now has 7 in 19 innings to achieve the milestone. He is leading team India from the front and giving them the starts they need. In the match against Pakistan, he scored 86 runs and gave the stage for other batters to seal the game. 

In the match against Afghanistan he achieved another milestone as the batter broke Chris Gayle's record for most international sixes. Previously Gayle had hit 553 sixes but in the match, Rohit surpassed him with 555 sixes to his name. On Thursday he gave another good start to the two-time World Champions. He was dismissed after scoring 48 runs hitting seven fours and 2 sixes.
