The ODI World Cup 2023, is almost been halfway through as most of the teams have played five matches each. Pakistan started the mega event on a high note winning the first two matches. But after they got thrashed by their arch-rivals India at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. They have lost their focus in the tournament. Nothing has gone for them after that loss and they have been even shocked by Afghanistan in their last match.

Now former New Zealand pacer, Shane Bond has made a controversial pick while choosing one skipper out of two choices. He picked Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards over Babar Azam. The bowler believes Edwards is a better skipper than Babar. This selection of his has made social media go crazy. Babar's captaincy skills and abilities have been questioned over and over again by the former cricketers and experts.

Babar Azam has not performed with the bat as per the expectations, he has made only two half-centuries in the marquee tournament so far. The captaincy of the 29-year-old batter has been ordinary as well. He has not done something out of the box to help his side to win in low-scoring games. Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik in a television show also suggested Babar leave the captaincy and focus on his batting skills.

Wasim Akram lashes out on Pakistan

Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has been frustrated with the whole Pakistan team. He previously burst out after their loss against Afghanistan saying, "If I start taking individual names, their faces will drop. Looks like these guys are eating 8 kilos of mutton every day. Should there not be tests?"

"Professionally, you are playing for your country, you are being paid. I am with Misbah. When he was coach, he had that criteria, players hated him. But it worked for the team. Fielding is all about fitness, and it shows on the field. Now we have come to a stage, where we will pray, do ifs and buts, wait for other teams to lose, then we can reach the semi-finals."
