South Africa comfortably overcame Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023. In Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, South Africa was undoubtedly the better side. Right from the toss, everything went in favour of South Africa. Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first. Considering the heat and humidity of Mumbai, Markram asked his batters to put a huge total on the board.

The batters responded to the call of Markram and did exactly what was expected from them. But it was not an easy sail for them. Due to some tactical captaincy in the first few overs, South Africa lost some quick wickets and did not have a great start. South Africa found themselves at 44/2 after the first powerplay. The ball did not come easy to the bat in the first few overs.

With the progression of the match, batting became easier. That was when South Africa pounced on Bangladesh bowlers. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen scored fifty for themselves, which helped the team's cause. But the star of the show was Quinton De Kock, who was brilliant with the bat. The Southpaw scored 174 runs in 140 balls, which included 15 fours and 7 sixes.

Clinical performance from South African bowlers against Bangladesh

In their 50 overs, South Africa scored 382 runs, which was a mammoth total, considering their bowling attack. Chasing the target, South Africa was into the Bangladeshi batting lineup straightaway. Marco Jansen was brilliant with the new ball. in the middle overs, Kagiso Rbada proved to be fantastic. Other bowlers in the attack did their job and made the stay tough for the Bangladesh batters.

A collective bowling effort meant that Bangladesh had no chance in the run chase. 383 was a tough chase. Only Mahmudullah put up some fight with the bat for Bangladesh. Other batters succumbed to pressure and threw their wicket away. In the end, South Africa emerged victorious in a dominating way. In the process, South Africa registered their fourth win in the tournament to climb up to the second spot in the points table.
