India defeated England on Sunday at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. The Men in Blue continued their unbeaten run in the ODI World Cup 2023. They are currently sitting at the top of the table after beating the defending champions. After the match, former World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir made a comment about the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The 36-year-old batter is currently the highest run scorer for the Men in Blue side.

Gambhir while commentating on Star Sports made a comment about the Indian skipper saying that he is a leader from the front and wants his team to perform so he sets the example as a leader for the team. Rohit Sharma has been leading the team from the front and has given India a good start from the top of the order. On Sunday the opener started off well and explosively but as wickets kept falling from the other end he slowed down his momentum on a difficult wicket of Lucknow.

While India was fielding and defending a low score of 230 runs. Rohit made some brilliant bowling changes in the game he brought on Mohammed Shami when Mohammed Siraj was leaking runs. The former bowled a fiery first sepll against the reigning champions and picked up one important wicket of Ben Stokes.

The thing he wants from the team, he does it himself: Gautam Gambhir

Gauti said, "Leader - the thing he wants from the team, he does it himself. If you expect positive batting from your teammates, you have to do it yourself. This act - leading from the front - you have to do it yourself. No kind of PR or marketing agency can do it for you."

"Rohit Sharma has done that. Maybe in terms of run tally, he is at the No. 10 or No. 5 slot. It does not matter. But your aim is winning the trophy on November 19. You have to decide whether your aim is to hit a 100 or win the World Cup. If your aim is to hit a ton, then you play that way. But if aim is to win the World Cup, then a selfless captain , like the way Rohit Sharma has batted, I expect him to do that more."
