Birthday boy Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets in the match. With the first one being of opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. He was quite animated after picking up the wicket of batter Azmatullah Omarzai during India’s second match of the World Cup 2023 in Delhi on Wednesday.

He was all pumped up and enjoyed the wicket after cleaning up the well-set Omarzai who had scored a fine half-century. He along with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi stitched a partnership of 121 runs for the fourth wicket. The partnership rescued them when they were struggling for 63/3.

To be honest, the reality hit me yesterday that I am not in my 20s anymore and that I will be 30: Hardik Pandya

Pandya turned 30 on Wednesday, October 11. Ahead of the match was seen cutting the cake, with the host broadcaster Jatin Sapru and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir in attendance. He had a bite of the cake and also shared it with the broadcaster and Gambhir.

Hardik stated, about the gift he received from his son, "First time playing in my life (on birthday). Let's see what happens. It will be fun. To be honest, the reality hit me yesterday that I am not in my 20s anymore and that I will be 30 (laughs). Agastya gave me a note in the morning where he had made a heart and all. It was such a warm feeling for me that it felt like the best birthday gift."

This is the fourth ODI that India and Afghanistan are playing against each other. While India remains unbeaten, the two sides played a tie in the 2018 Asia Cup, while the clash in the 2019 World Cup was a nerve-wracking one, with the Men in Blue winning a last-over thriller
