In the 2023 edition, he played a brilliant knock in the first match against defending champions England while chasing 283 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He played an unbeaten knock of 152 runs off 121 balls, hitting 19 fours and three sixes. It was his career-best score as well in ODI.

2. Andrew Strauss, 158 vs IND, 2011 World Cup

Andrew Strauss was unfortunate in a high-scoring game against India in the 2011 World Cup was tied. Batting first India posted a total of 339 runs with great Sachin Tendulkar scoring his 98th international century and 47th ODI century against the English Lions. He scored 120 runs off 115 balls. 

But in reply then the English skipper Strauss got off to a good start and played shots all around the park of Bengaluru. He played a knock of 158 runs off 145 deliveries hitting 18 fours and one six and was dismissed by an unplayable yorker from Zaheer Khan. This is the second-best innings while chasing in ODI World Cup history.

1. Glenn Maxwell, 201* vs AFG, 2023 World Cup

Glenn Maxwell is regarded as one of the most explosive batters of this generation. He showed again why he is the most destructive batter against Afghanistan in the current edition. Maxwell played the greatest ODI innings of the history at Wankhede. Australia were struggling at 91/7. From there, Pat Cummins gave valuable support to Maxwell. 

Maxwell was dropped on 33 runs by Mujeeb ur Rahman, since then he has not been given any other chance while he was cramping and struggling to take a run then the big hits started all around the park. The 35-year-old batter was unbeaten till the end and scored 201 runs off 128 balls, hitting 21 fours and 10 sixes.
