Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were involved in a fantastic fielding-bowling partnership to get rid of Mitchell Marsh in the ODI World Cup 2023. The Indian star cricketer made a sensational dive to dismiss a dangerous batter like Marsh, which gave an early lead to the Indian team in the match against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023.
India started the innings well. The two Indian pacers, Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj were excellent with the new ball. Bumrah, in particular, offered near to nothing with the ball. It forced Marsh to do something different. Marsh was yet to get off the mark at this point. In an attempt to get off the strike, Marsh tried to take a single.
It was a slightly back-of-a-length delivery from Bumrah. On pitching, the ball went close to the batter. It looked as if it came into the right-hander. But in reality, the ball did not come as much in as the batter expected it to. The batter tried to dab it towards the third-man region. It was an attempt to escape the incoming delivery, which was not one.
Virat's stunning grab puts him above former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble
The ball took the outside edge of the batter and travelled towards the slip region. The Indian captain Rohit had stationed one of the best fielders in the world, Virat Kohli, the first slip. The star cricketer had to jump towards his left to get closer to the travelling ball. Kohli made a stunning jump and dived towards his left and claimed the catch. It was a sheer moment of brilliance.
It was a stunning grab from the former Indian captain. It lit up the mood of the stadium and the Indian dugout. The fans celebrated the catch and appreciated the efforts of Virat. As Virat grabbed the catch, he went past Anil Kumble as the Indian fielder with the most catches in the ODI World Cup. Virat now has 15 catches in the World Cup, as opposed to 14 from Kumble.
