India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been banned for two Asian Games 2023. Apparently, she had a meltdown after being given out in the third ODI against Bangladesh. After her wicket, Kaur hit the stumps in anger. After the game, the right-hander said that the umpiring was poor in the game

“A lot of learning from this game,” Harmanpreet said at the presentation ceremony. “Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves.”

However, the Mumbai Indians skipper didn't just stop there. She even insisted the Bangladesh players call the umpires as she alleged they helping the home side win the game. In reply, Nigar Sultana criticized Kaur's comments

“It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it,” Nigar said in the press conference when asked about the incident. “As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect.”

Harmanpreet Kaur has been slapped with two different charges

The veteran player was slapped with a fine for "showing dissent at an umpire's decision". Kaur has been handed a Level 2 sanction and has become the first player to be banned for two games. She will miss the first two games in the Asian Games. Apart from this, she was also fined 50% of her match fee for the same offense.

Harmanpreet also received a separate Level 1 penalty along with a fine of 25% of her match fee for "public criticism" of match officials after she described the umpiring in the Bangladesh series as "pathetic."
