The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 concluded on May 29, 2023, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by four wickets to win the trophy for a record fifth time. Due to its profits, the cash-rich league has been the Indian Cricket Board's gold mine as it is growing more and more each year as a result of its attraction and delight.

The entire cricketing universe was in awe of what a wonderful season 2023 for the IPL was. The tournament has received high accolades from the game's greats for its frequent 200-plus totals, thrilling chases that went down to the final ball, and the emergence of new players like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Jitesh Sharma to push the limits of the sport.

Meanwhile, according to Live Mint, the tournament has collected a whopping amount of INR 10,120 crore from the ad revenue which is enough to tell the success of the league this season. Interestingly the entire tournament was streamed free on JIO Cinema and it seems like it worked for the organisers.

IPL is currently only second to the NFL in America in terms of match earnings

With the help of the IPL auction procedure, it provides media rights. The highest bidder receives the privilege to broadcast the game. There were 70 total games in the IPL 2023 league stage. Jio Cinema and Star Sports broadcast it live to millions of viewers.

The IPL is currently only second to the NFL in America in terms of match earnings. The total money generated by an IPL game, including viewership, sponsorship, licencing, and ticket sales, is approximately Rs 130 crore. The IPL, however, falls far short of other sports leagues in terms of player spending.

In 2020 and 2021, the tournament was badly affected by Covid 19 due to which the Indian Cricket Board had to organise the league in UAE and the fans were missing the clashes in India. The 15th edition of the cahs-rich was played in India but in only 3 venues. However, the 2023 edition brought joy to many fans as it was hosted by 12 venues.
