The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) are clashing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 15. This is the last match of GT at their home this season. Gujarat has a great chance to make it to the playoffs as by winning this match, they can move forward. This match is also special for them because the colour of their jersey is different.

GT players came on the field wearing the lavender jersey in this match as they wore this special jersey for an important reason. A video was also posted about this jersey from the GT's social media handle. The Gujarat team is playing this match with the aim of spreading awareness about cancer. Because of this, the colour of the jersey has been changed. There is also a special reason why lavender was chosen as it strongly displays all types of cancer. The Gujarat team is working to spread awareness regarding the diagnosis of cancer. For this reason, this colour was chosen.

DC and RR also took the initiative earlier

For the purpose of spreading awareness about cancer, there have been some jersey changes in the IPL before. In the year 2018, Rajasthan Royals also decided to spread awareness about cancer as they made a special kind of pink jersey. That jersey was made in three different colours. Delhi Capitals (DC) (then Daredevils) had taken the same initiative led by former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh, a cancer survivor himself, and another member of the side who had set up a non-profit organisation named YouWeCan Foundation that works with cancer patients.

Meanwhile, GT skipper, Hardik Pandya talked about the jersey and the match during the match and here's what he said, "Yeah, it is a special initiative to support cancer patients. This is just our way of showing our support. We have played really good cricket. Standing in the table doesn't matter that much, you have to play good cricket. When we started, we knew it would be a tricky year for us."
