The two-time champions of the Indian Premier League Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) couldn’t qualify for the playoffs in the recently concluded 16th edition of IPL but they provided multiple entertaining nail-biting matches during the tournament. They were involved in many last-over thrillers or low-scoring matches.

Meanwhile, KKR’s star allrounder Venkatesh Iyer recently gave an interview to India TV where he was asked about whether he loves being a top-order batter, a finisher, or a complete allrounder. To which, he replied that he’d love to be a complete allrounder as he wants to contribute to the team in all departments. He further added that he wants to be a player like Hardik Pandya.

“Obviously Venkatesh, a complete all-rounder and I want to contribute to the team in all three departments irrespective of the batting position, be it opening, middle order, lower down the order to finish the games, bowl even in the power play and death overs. You know I want to be a complete all-rounder really like what Hardik Pandya is doing. I do find him as one of the best allrounders going around in the world and I really want to replicate what he's doing.” Venkatesh was quoted as saying by India TV.

Apart from Venkatesh, young KKR middle-order batter Rinku Singh also impressed many fans and cricket experts with his batting skills. The 25-year-old batter was the highest run-scorer for KKR in IPL 2023. Venkatesh also talked about him and said that he is the best thing that happened to the team this year. Venkatesh said that he can’t forget the moment when Rinky hit 5 sixes in the last over against Gujarat Titans.

“He's the best thing that happened to KKR this year, You know, amazing guy. He's a gem of a person. He has shown time and time again that good things happen to good people. And yeah, I can't forget the moment when he hit 5 sixes and I think we ran onto the field as if we had won the IPL. I was extremely happy for him.” Venkatesh said.
