Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League and have reached the final for the 10th time in IPL history. On Tuesday, May 23, they defeated the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by 15 runs. Earlier, the team became champions in 2021 and then former cricketer Robin Uthappa played an important role in CSK's victory as he performed brilliantly in Qualifier-1 and the final.

Meanwhile, Uthappa is receiving a lot of hat on social media for his supportive tweet for CSK ahead of the first qualifier. However, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fans didn’t like the tweet and brutally trolled him as one fan wrote “Bro played one-two seasons with Chennai and sold his soul. I have never seen him supporting KKR like this.” However, Uthappa didn’t hold back and replied, "Loyalty and respect is a give and take my friend."

Unfortunately, his response generated more trolls for him and after this, he came up with another tweet and said, “I'm not surprised by the hate I'm receiving here for what has been MY experience. Peace and love to you all."

Robin Uthappa's journey in IPL

The right-hander spent a significant part of his IPL career with KKR as he was with KKR from 2014 to 2019. Uthappa was instrumental in KKR's trophy win in 2014. He was the highest run-scorer in the tournament that year and won the Orange Cap as well.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir used to lead KKR at that time. Gambhir left the franchise in 2018 and it was then believed that Uthappa would be the next captain of KKR for the 2018 IPL. However, the team management chose wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as the new captain and Uthappa was given the responsibility of just the vice-captain. After this, Uthappa was a part of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2020 and in 2021 Chennai Super Kings traded him from RR.
