The 28-year-old bowler had taken 9 wickets in 2 matches only. After the success in the Asia Cup, Kuldeep once again visited Bageshwar Dham with his family and took the blessings of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. Ahead of the World Cup, he might have taken some blessings.

Kuldeep Yadav, the world-famous Indian spin magician by the name of Chinaman and the most beloved disciple of Pujya Sarkar: Pandit Dhirendra Shastri

Pandit Dhirendra Shastri posted from the Facebook page of the Baba Bageshwar Government. The caption along with this reads, "Kuldeep Yadav, the world-famous Indian spin magician by the name of Chinaman and the most beloved disciple of Pujya Sarkar, reached Bageshwar Dham to visit Sarkar. After winning the Man of the Series title in the Asia Cup, Pujya came to seek the blessings of the government. Took blessings for good performance in the upcoming World Cup. Earlier in July, Kuldeep also reached Bageshwar Dham to seek blessings."

The left-arm wrist spinner picked up 5 wickets against Pakistan in the Super-4 round match of the Asia Cup. He then picked 4 wickets against Sri Lanka. The spinner rested for the first two ODIs and will be seen in action in the 3rd ODI match against Australia.

Rohit Sharma on Kuldeep being rested said, "Kuldeep is a rhythm bowler, we all know that," India captain Rohit Sharma said. "But we thought of a lot of things and took this call. His bowling is going well, like Ajit said, we had to give players a chance, especially those who played just one game at the Asia Cup and are in the World Cup squad."

"We have been looking at Kuldeep for the last one, one and a half years, this is why we don't want to expose him a lot. He is coming back for the last match. There are a lot of reasons. This is the best decision for us, to have him sit out for two games and play the third. We also have two practice matches , so for the bowling rhythm, he will be back in it."
