Former cricketer Vinod Kambli is once again embroiled in controversy and this time his wife, Andrea has stood against him. An FIR has been registered against Kambli at Mumbai's Bandra Police Station on Andrea's complaint. Her complaint states that Kambli verbally abused her. Not only this but he had also beaten up his wife under the influence of alcohol. Mumbai Police said no arrests have been made in the case so far.

According to Bandra Police, an FIR has been registered against Kambli under IPC Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (insult). Kambli has been accused of hitting his wife with the handle of a cooking pan in a drunken state and throwing the pan at his wife. A snippet from the FIR reads:

"Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital."

Kambli came home late at night after consuming alcohol. He not only beat up his wife but also abused his son. The 12-year-old son tried to stop Kambli, but he did not agree. According to the police, Andrea suffered a head injury and was taken to Bhabha Hospital after the assault. After that, she decided to file a case and reached the police station. There, he informed the police about the incident and got an FIR registered.

Talking about his career, Kambli played a total of 104 ODIs and 17 Test matches for India. He scored a total of 3,561 runs, including six centuries. He scored four centuries in Tests, while two centuries came in ODI cricket. Kambli, who started his career in 1991, played for nine years. He played his last match in the year 2000, while his close friend and teammate Sachin Tendulkar played for the country for 24 years and created many records.
