The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to play the Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad in their third game of the IPL 2023. The Titans kicked off the 16th edition of the cash-rich league with two straight victories over the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. As the hosts prepare to face the Knight Riders, GT captain Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill are approaching a crucial milestone.
Hardik (1976) and Gill (1977) are only 24 and 23 runs short of reaching the 2000 IPL runs mark, respectively. With this record, they will also be eyeing to surpass Michael Hussey in the list of most runs scorers in the league. Hussey had 1977 runs in his Indian Premier League career. Meanwhile, ahead of the game, Gill spoke about his dream opening partner.
Speaking with GT Gill said that he will pick India stalwart Sachin Tendulkar as his dream opening partner. Notably, in January during an interview with Star Sports Gill picked Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar and made his call in the debate. The 23-year-old batter is currently having his best time on the ground as he has hammered tons of runs in international cricket before scoring for GT in the ongoing tournament.

After beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game Kolkata Knight Riders will come to Ahmedabad with huge confidence. Nitish Rana and the company will look to continue their dominance while Gujarat Titans will hope to win another match. If Kolkata manages to stop Gujarat Titans then that will be GT's first loss in the last five IPl games. Notably, visitors will be having the services of Jason Roy from today.
