Australia has lost back-to-back ODIs against India, in the three-match ODI series. With the World Cup approaching in a few days, it is a concern for the Men in Yellow. Pacer Sean Abbott has bashed the Aussie bowlers for repeating the same mistakes, in consecutive ODIs.
India smacked the Kangaroo bowlers all around the park. They posted a total of 399 runs, which is their highest total against Australia in ODIs. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, both scored centuries. Suryakumar Yadav's explosive finish, scoring 72 runs in just 37 balls and skipper KL Rahul's 52 runs off 38 balls was handy.
This was Australia's fifth consecutive loss in ODIs and the fourth time they had conceded 300 plus in those games. Cameron Green also lost his confidence when Suryakumar Yadav hit him for four consecutive sixes in the first four balls of an over.
We've obviously just not executed as well as we would have liked: Sean Abbott
Speaking after the loss, Abbott said, "We've obviously just not executed as well as we would have liked," Abbott said after the loss. "It's all well and good to say that we'll take learnings out of these games and stuff like that, but we do need to execute better as a whole."
"It showed today when we were bowling, and it was a little bit the same in South Africa as well, as soon as we missed the stumps we were punished. Although we went for 400 again today, I thought the death bowling was pretty good," Abbott said. "It can still be improved a lot. But like I've mentioned a couple of times already, our execution and bringing those stumps into play, owning our lengths and putting pressure on the batters that way certainly has to improve and I have no doubt that we've got a very skilled attack."
He scored 54 runs off 29 balls hitting four fours and five sixes, adding 77 with Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood was their pick of the bowlers who picked up 62 for 1 in his 10 over quota.
