The 11th match of the Women’s T20 League witnessed another disappointment for the Bangalore-based franchise as they lost back-to-back five matches in the tournament. Delhi defeated Bangalore by 6 wickets at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, March 13, 2023. However, there was one moment in the match which grabbed a lot of attention.
During the first innings of the match, Delhi’s fast bowler Shikha Pandey pulled off a stunner and shocked everyone with her tremendous effort in the outfield. Tara Norris was bowling the 13th over, and on the 4th ball, she delivered a good length ball that was angling across. Heather Knight moved inside the line and sat down to play the sweep. It was hit well but Pandey dived to her left near short fine leg and grabbed a terrific catch.

Delhi's chase of 150 with ease
Talking about the match, Delhi’s skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and asked Bangalore to put runs on the scoreboard. However, it was again a bad start for Bangalore as they lost Smriti Mandhana on the score of just 8 runs. The left-handed opener was the most expensive player in the auction and there were many expectations from her to become the leading run-scorer in the inaugural tournament but that didn’t happen as she failed to provide anything special in the five matches she played so far.
However, Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh somehow managed to change gears in the end and counter-attacked the Delhi bowlers to achieve a respectable total of 150 runs in 20 overs. Pandey was the highest wicket-taker for Delhi as she picked up 3 wickets with that stunning catch as well.
The target wasn’t big considering Delhi’s batting lineup, but they lost Shafali Verma early in the very first over of the second innings. However, later, Bangalore’s middle order made the chase easy with their handy knock and at the end Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp did the rest of the work to take their team to another victory in the tournament.
