South Africa vs India's first Test match is scheduled on Tuesday, December 26 at Supersport Park, Centurion. The Men in Blue are in search of their first series win on the Proteas soil. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have joined the side after a long break. There were speculations that Rohit would not be leading the side in the white-ball series anymore. He has the chance of winning the series as a captain for the first time and etching his name in the history books, which will reduce the pain of the ODI World Cup 2023 final loss against Australia. India are missing their one mainstream pacer Mohammed Shami who is missing the tour due to an ankle injury he suffered. 

There is a possibility of rain on the first day of the Test match and the pitch has a green topping on it the pacers will have an advantage and with the new ball the batters would have to be careful for the first few overs with the strokes they play.  

The wickets get difficult later: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma said, "That's a challenge. When we went to Australia, England, and South Africa it was a challenge. For them also, who are coming for the first time, it'll be a challenge. The bowlers dominate here a lot. The lateral movement the seamers get. The wickets get difficult later on as the cracks open and invariable bounce. It'll be nice for all of us to put our hands up for the challenge. As a batter, it's always a challenge here in South Africa. It's the hardest place to bat. I look forward to the challenge."
