SA vs IND: Weather report ahead of 2nd Test in Cape Town

South vs India is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 3 at Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town. The Men in Blue will be looking to tie the series in the Protea soil, after their dismal show in the 1st test where they lost by an innings and 32 runs. The first Test at Centurion started with predictions of a washout, but rain stayed away and fans enjoyed a full day of cricket. 

They are hoping the same to happen, but in the first three days of the Test are unlikely to face any rainfall, providing a ray of hope for uninterrupted play in Cape Town. Weather forecasts predict a high chance of rain on Days 4 and 5, potentially causing significant disruptions or even a premature end to the game.

That might be a concern for the Indian fans as they are waiting for a full match in order at least to win the last game and draw the series, as they are yet to win a red-ball series in the Rainbow Nation. Rohit Sharma failed in the first test and will look to get back his form in the last test.

According to the weather forecast, there are no chances of rain from January 3 to January 5. However, On January 6, the forecast predicts 40 to 50 percent chances of rain, and on January 7, the fifth and final day of the Test, the rain prediction is around 5 to 10 percent. The temperature in the morning is 27 degrees with no chances of precipitation and zero cloud cover. The temperature increases to 28 degrees in the afternoon

Similar to the Centurion pitch, the Cape Town wicket will be in favor of pacers, but the batters will also have time to score. The grass surface at Newlands Cricket Ground will give quick bowlers swing and a spongy bounce. Additionally, on the final two days of the match, there can be assistance for spinners.
