India won the 2nd and final test against South Africa by 7 wickets, at the Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town. The test series ended in a 1-1 draw after the Men in Blue's turnaround victory after the loss in the 1st Test. Rohit Sharma's side did not let the hosts stand in the first innings as the pacers dominated the Proteas, they were bowled out for 55 runs as the hosts had no answer to the fiery spell of Mohammed Siraj, who picked up 6 wickets in the first innings.
After the win two greats Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gave a heartwarming farewell to stand-in captain Dean Elgar, the 36-year-old opener was playing his last test match on Thursday, Kohli presented his signed jersey after the game, Rohit handed Elgar a jersey signed by the squad during the presentation ceremony.
Elgar has been one of the finest red ball openers of this generation. He was the man of the match in the 1st Test scoring a brilliant 185 runs and also became the joint Player of the Series award alongside Jasprit Bumrah. In the final test of his career, he was captaining on behalf of injured Temba Bavuma.

I would have liked to do more in this game: Dean Elgar
The Southpaw in the post-match said, "I would have liked to do more in this game. Still very proud of my performance in Centurion and finally on the board of the Hundred Club there. But pretty difficult batting conditions... It would've been brilliant. You want to challenge yourself against the best in the world. Bumrah is a world-class bowler and he deserves the Man of the Series. Glad I don't have to face these guys again (laughs). Bit of a journey and amazing memories with the baggy green, so special..."
"Tough one for us. We were positive coming into the game, but the first innings with the bat...India bowled well and used the conditions to a T. In a day, it's a draw, but 2-nil would've been nice. Yeah, it was a bit of a ripper. In the naked eye, it looked a nice one, but it played different to what everyone thought it would play."
The Men in Blue are currently at the top of the table of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, with 54.16% PCT.
