India fast bowler Umran Malik has managed to draw the attention of several cricket fans and experts around the world towards him and forced them to take notice of his talent that he has. He was roped in as a net bowler in the second half of the Indian T20 League 2021 but he got to play the full season in the T20 League earlier this year before making his debut for India in both the ODIs and T20Is.

Former Indian cricketer and batting Legend Sunil Gavaskar has high hopes from the rising youngster Malik who is consistently impressing everyone with his sheer pace. “One player I am most excited to see playing for India after Sachin Tendulkar is Umran Malik,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying ahead of the second ODI between India and Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Umran got another opportunity in ODI

Umran replaced Kuldeep Sen in the Bangladesh tour, who is out with a back injury after making his India debut on Sunday and now Malik is playing in his fourth ODI. Umran wasn’t a member of the team’s first lineup for the Bangladesh ODIs. A position became available after senior bowler Mohammed Shami’s injury, and the youngster took it.

Talking about the Bangladesh ODI series, the Bangla Tigers snatched the victory from the hands of India by 1 wicket. Many fans and cricketers were furious with the Indian cricket team because of the heart-breaking loss against Bangladesh in the first match. India failed to deliver with the bat and displayed a poor show on the field as well.

India seemed to be on course to victory but wicketkeeper KL Rahul dropped an important catch of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and it proved to be the reason for India’s defeat. After Rahul’s dropped catch, India got another chance but allrounder Washington Sundar seemed to have refused to even approach a catching opportunity.
