The Indian Cricket Board announced the squad for the Test and ODI squad for the upcoming West Indies tour. Some new faces like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar are selected for the 2-match Test series. However, it would be interesting to see whether they get a chance to be included in the playing XI.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) star batter Rinku Singh is likely to get his maiden international for the T20I series against West Indies. However, the squad is yet to be announced but Rinku’s performance in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket might help him to get a place in the squad.

In the 16th edition of the competition, the 25-year-old middle-order batsman played 14 games and scored 474 runs at an average of 59.25, all while batting lower down the order. He also scored four half-centuries with a remarkable strike rate of nearly 150. However, a bonus addition about Rinku is that he is exceptional and very athletic on the field with a safe pair of hands.

Rinku's brilliant stats in first-class cricket

Talking about his first-class career, in 40 matches, Rinku has amassed 2875 runs at an average of over 60, which is a stellar performance. The Indian Test team for the forthcoming Windies tour has a few fresh faces thanks to the Indian selection committee. The selectors would have also given Rinku some thought given his stellar FC cricket statistics.

Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board took a shocking decision as they didn’t select India’s veteran Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara for the Test series. Pujara has been consistently playing in the country cricket to improve himself for the overseas conditions but he couldn’t do anything in the recently concluded WTC 2023 final.

However, Pujara denied to give up and once again started hitting the nets for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. He will be seen playing for the West Zone with Suryakumar Yadav as Jaiswal and Gaikwad won’t be taking part in it.
