Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that the Indian team will continue to play Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav together. Kaif sees Kuldeep and Chahal playing together frequently for India in T20I cricket in the future. The duo played together in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand in Lucknow.
In an interaction with broadcasters, Kaif was asked about the possibility of the three spinners playing together in the team. Answering the question Kaif said, "Absolutely, you can do three and three. It is definitely on because they are quality bowlers. Kuldeep and Chahal bring with them a lot of experience.”
“Then you need wicket-takers who are match-winners, which Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal are. Then you have fast bowlers. Three and three is the way to go forward. There is nothing wrong with that because you don't see anything lacking there. The guy who comes to bat at No. 7 is an all-rounder’’, added Kaif.
“Sundar as batter allows to experiment”, says Kaif
Kaif further backed Washington Sundar as allrounder. He believes that India's bowling attack may be experimented with because of Sundar's capabilities as a batsman. “With Washington Sundar being a third spinner, you can play around because you have got a batter at No. 7. You need batting till seven only in T20 cricket because the No. 8 does not get to bat. So, you have to get a solid batter at No. 7.”
“Hardik Pandya comes at No. 6. He is also an all-rounder. So you can go with six bowlers, the batting is also there till No. 7, and the six bowlers you have are proper wicket-takers. So I feel you will see this approach quite a lot going forward”, Cricketer turned commentator added.
The trio of Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav stopped Kiwis from going big in the second T20I at the Ekana Stadium. In the low-scoring encounter, India barely managed to win the game. Both teams are set to play the 3rd T20I at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
