Young England batter Harry Brook was the cynosure of all eyes during the previous auction in 2023. Sunrisers Hyderabad had paid a huge amount to make the young batter one of the highest-paid players in the league.
100 off those runs came against Kolkata Knight Riders in what a blistering knock by the youngster.
Delhi Capitals picked Harry Brook for the IPL 2024 season for a mere INR 4 Crores. Here are the three teams who will kick themselves for not picking the talented English batter.
Kolkata Knight Riders –
While Gautam Gambhir and Venky Mysore invested heavily in the fast bowling unit, there is one area of concern still left. Opening batting was a concern for Kolkata Knight Riders last season and it could be the same story this year.
Harry Brook could have solved that problem for the two-time IPL winners. The youngster has opened for England in the white ball format and has shown great talent. KKR needs someone to support Rahmanullah Gurbaz and missing Harry Brook could prove costly.
Rajasthan Royals –
The 2008 IPL winners had spent INR 7.4 Crores on West Indian Rovman Powell during the IPL Auction 2024. After Joe Root pulled out of the coming season, the Royals had a great chance to sign Harry Brook.
Harry Brook has often been compared to Joe Root for his run-scoring efforts. The 24-year-old and his big scoring talents could have benefitted Sanju Samson and his side. It was shocking that the Royals didn’t pursue Harry Brook with the same passion as they did for Powell.
Gujarat Titans –
IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans have struggled to find a decent opening partner for Shubman Gill. While Wriddhiman Saha has played the opening role to perfection at 39 years old the Titans could have planned for the future.
With the talent he has, Harry Brook could have been the best possible buy for the Gujarat Titans. Considering the batter-friendly tracks in Ahmedabad, the youngster would have loved to bat at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
