Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has broken many records irrespective of any format of the game. Many young cricketers look up to him as an inspiration as his techniques and especially his fitness inspires a lot of upcoming cricketers. Kohli is currently in action in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League and also performing great as well.
Meanwhile, ahead of Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), former RCB captain Kohli was seen talking about his jersey number in a video posted by Star Sports in social media. Kohli narrated the whole story about his jersey number and revealed how it became an important part of his life.
“18 started off just being a number for me when I was given a jersey which was numbered 18 but then it ended up becoming a very important number in my life. My debut game was on 18th August and my father passed away on 18th December 2006. Two of the most significant dates in my life happened to be 18 but I got the number way before that.
It is quite a surreal experience to see so many people wearing my jersey number. I never imagined that I'd be in this position one day because when I was a kid I also wanted to wear my heroes' jersey. I just feel grateful and this is a great opportunity god has given me and I feel truly blessed.”
Can RCB qualify for the playoffs?
Talking about RCB, chances for the playoffs qualifications, a victory might allow the Faf du Plessis-led team, which is now fifth in the IPL points standings, to move up to fourth. Regarding the individual performances thus far, the captain set the bar high by leading by example, with occasional contributions from star allrounder Glenn Maxwell and Kohli.
While Mohammed Siraj performed admirably with the ball, others will need to improve as the competition comes to a close. The likes of Harshal Patel and Vijaykumar Vyshak has taken wickets but also leaked a lot of runs but they can’t do this anymore in the remaining 2 matches.
