Pretoria Capitals (PRC) beat Paarl Royals by 27 runs

Paarl Royals (PR) beat Pretoria Capitals (PRC) by 27 runs in the 3rd match of the SA 20 on Friday at Boland Park, Paarl. PRC won the toss and elected to field first. The Royals started off well with Jason Roy and Jos Buttler scoring 42 runs for the first wicket, though the former was the aggressor between the two. 

They lost both the openers in simultaneous overs leading them to the back foot. Royals skipper David Miller was the star for the side as he was the highest run scorer as well. There were small partnerships in between but it did not turn out to be a big one. They never got going at one stage A 150-plus score was also looking impossible but a small cameo by Andile Phehlukwayo at the end helped them get a defendable score of 160/7.

Daryn Dupavillon was the pick of the bowlers as the pacer picked two wickets giving out 29 runs. Corbin Bosch also picked two wickets but was expensive in his spell. Eathan Bosch, Jimmy Neesham and Will Jacks got one wicket each with their star spinner Adil Rashid wicketless in his four of his spell. 

Bowlers shine for the Royals

Roy after getting a start could not convert and was back after scoring 23 runs. Buttler's form in the white-ball has been a concern as he was back after scoring 12 runs. Miller was the highest scorer as he played a crucial knock of 45 runs with Phehlukwayo's 28 runs off 14 balls giving them a total to defend. 

In reply, the Capitals did not get the start they wanted, Phil Salt was the highest run scorer for the side as they opened 39 runs. Rilee Rossouw scored a decent 29 runs half of the batters were back in the pavilion with the single-digit score. Neesham the captain of the Capitals could not do much of the run chase as he was the last one to be dismissed on the score of 21. Tabriz Shamsi and Obed McCoy bowled economical in the 4 overs of spell each and picked one wicket each as well.
