Australia beat Pakistan

Australia beat Pakistan in the 2nd Test match on Friday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The hosts have sealed the three-match series by winning the first two Test matches against the Men in Green. This was the visitor's first tour since their appointment of the new management after the dismal show in the ODI World Cup 2023. But their dream of winning a Test match in Australia since 1995 continues. They still have a chance of winning it in the final and third test at Sydney.

Shan Masood won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd Test. The PAK bowlers were not able to find their rhythm on Day 1 of the match. On Day 2 they performed well, as they picked 6 wickets by giving out 114 runs and bowled out the Aussies for 318 runs. With Marnus Labuschagne scoring the side's only half-century in the first innings.

Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique and skipper Masood stand out after the early wicket of Imam-ul-Haq. Both batters scored half a century. The former scored 62 and the captain was back in the pavilion after scoring 54 runs. After the two wickets, no other batter could go past the 50-run mark and they were bowled out for 264 runs.

Pakistan's dream to win a Test continues

The Pakistan pacers started the 2nd innings brilliantly putting the hosts in the back foot as they were 16/4. Their Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh built on a 153-run stand between them. The former scored 50 and Marsh missed out on a well-deserved century as he was back after scoring 96. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mir Hamza picked up 4 wickets each and bowled the Kangaroos for 262 and they got a target of 317 runs.

The Men in Green did not have the start they needed, the openers were back in the pavilion early. The skipper once again stood at one end scoring another valuable 60 runs and some contribution from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman could not help their team to win the game as they lost the match by 79 runs.
