The 68th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 will be played against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, May 20. A victory against KKR will guarantee LSG a spot in the playoffs as they already have 15 points and after the win they will gain 2 more points and then it will be 17 which is enough for the qualification.

Meanwhile, ahead of the clash, LSG revealed a unique green and maroon jersey as a tribute to the famous century-old football club Mohun Bagan as it is co-owned by Sanjeev Goenka, who also owns LSG. It’d be interesting to see who will get Kolkata crowd support as Mohun Bagan have a major fanbase in Kolkata and the KKR crowd is already divided as we’ve witnessed in the CSK vs KKR clash where more than half of the stadium was painted yellow.

Who will get the KKR crowd support?

The fans have another reason to watch the interesting clash as KKR’s former captain Gautam Gambhir who led the team to the title 2 times will also be there at the Eden Gardens as he is currently serving as a mentor for LSG. However, his involvement in the game is more than that as in many matches he could be seen having a chat and celebrating with his players.

Meanwhile, KKR's chances to qualify for the playoffs are almost over as they have only 12 points in 13 matches, a victory against LSG will not guarantee them a spot in the playoffs and they will have to depend on other teams’ results. However, in their last match, they defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets and kept their hopes alive.

On the other hand, the Lucknow-based franchise ended its home stretch on a high with a crucial 5-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. It was the last over heroics from young Mohsin Khan who defended 11 runs in the final over to help LSG outclass MI.
