Wasim Akram, the former legendary Pakistani pacer, has expressed his opinions on the many injuries suffered by fast bowlers in contemporary cricket. Jasprit Bumrah as well as Deepak Chahar's long-term injuries, along with other fast bowler injuries, have been a problem for India. Akram believes that some of the primary causes of this are a lack of fundamental exercise regimens, such as running. Fast bowlers must deliver as many deliveries as they can to keep in condition, according to the former Pakistan captain.

Team India and Indian team fans would be extremely worried about Jasprit Bumrah's injury and the number of games he has been missing because of this recurring injury. He will not play in the Test Championship match against Australia. Additionally, it is unknown whether he will play in the forthcoming ODI World Cup that is being hosted by India in October-November.

Wasim Akram’s word of advice for the Indian fast bowlers

Wasim Akram spoke to SportsKeeda and he discussed the importance of working out. He said, “Running has to be a massive part of a fast bowler's workout. I went to the gym only in the final three years of my career. I played 10 seasons for Lancashire and would have played around 100-150 first-class games. Here you play these pacers two first-class games and they won't get out of bed for six days. Their bodies are not used to it.”

Akram then gave advice to the Indian fast bowlers and what they should focus on. He said, “My advice would be to ensure that 2-3 days before a game, you bowl long spells in the nets for at least an hour. If you bowl just 3 overs then how do you expect your body muscles to remain ready for the game? Another advice I would give to youngsters is that focus on 4-day cricket as well. T20 cricket and IPL is here to stay. But when you play 4-day cricket, your pace will increase as you bowl long spells and chances of injury will be lesser."
